Cristina: “We are now living in a completely different Argentina”

President Cristina Fernández said that “we are now living in a completely different Argentina”, when she visited the city of Gualeguaychú, in the Province of Entre Ríos, that celebrates its 228th anniversary.

Accompanied by the Governor of Entre Ríos, Sergio Uribarri, the President explained that the big difference is based on the fact that “we have not only federalized our speeches, but also our policies and the resources to foster the harmonious development of all the areas of Argentina”.

“And this development is possible”, she added, “thanks to the high level of investments made in infrastructure and energy”.

Cristina made use of her presence at Gualeguaychú to inaugurate, through a videoconference contact, the Coteminas (formerly Grafa) textile factory in the Province of Santiago del Estero.

The new factory demanded an investment of 23 million dollars and shall provide work to 350 labourers.

“We have redoubled or tripled our production, exporting to the rest of the world, thanks to the reactivation of an industry that during a decade had been put down”, commented the President

Cristina stood out that “in 2003 it was impossible to think on strategic terms, because everything seemed to collapse”. She reminded that former President Néstor Kirchner´s first trip to Entre Ríos “was to settle a four-month strike of the Province’s teachers”.

She also called the Argentine people “to overcome useless debates that are beneficial to nobody”.

“A President must govern for 40 million people and be able to articulate the interest of them all”, she said.

Cristina also made a reference to the conflict with Uruguay on the Botnia paper mill factory at Fray Bentos, in front of Gualeguaychú, across the Uruguay River.
